Course will examine different aspects of this year's
topic, which is "Cancer. " The seminar will begin with
an examination of the scientific foundations of our
current understanding of cancer ("bench") and proceed
to address relevant applications of research in the
clinical setting ("bedside").In addition,speakers will
place the topic in the context of societal and ethical
challenges posed by this spectrum of diseases,
addressing the topic from diverse perspectives.
Attendance at class sessions is required,and students
will write a short paper near the end of the quarter.
